Privacy

The short version

  • You can take the whole test without telling us who you are. No account, no name, no password.
  • No cookies. No advertising. No third-party code — nothing on this page is loaded from anyone else's server.
  • We store your answers, and we store which site you came from, so we can tell whether the test works and how people find it.
  • At the end you can leave an email address if you want to; it is optional, and you can have it deleted by asking. If you pre-order the full report, Stripe also gives us the name, email address and billing country you enter there (plus a postal code, where your card needs one) and the last four digits of your card, along with the other payment details listed below. Those are the only things here that identify you.
  • We never sell or share individual answers, and we never sell or rent email addresses.

What we store when you take the test

Nothing about your answers leaves your browser until you reach your result. From then on we store: which answer you picked for each scenario, where it was on the screen, and how long you took; your result; which of the descriptions you picked when asked to compare them; your rating of the result; how many times you switched away from the page during the test; and, only if you answer them, the short questions about your work (role, how often you use AI, team size, industry). We also store the date and time, the two-letter country our network provider reports for the connection, and whether the request looked like it came from a browser or a script.

All of this is tied together by a random code your browser makes up when you open the page. The code lives only in that tab: it is not stored in a cookie or in your browser’s storage, and on its own it says nothing about who you are.

While you move through the page, it also sends short counters with no content (for example “someone reached question 5” or “someone pressed Copy link”), so we can see where people stop. Those carry only the path and the date.

Where you came from

When you arrive we store which site you came from — the site’s name only, for example youtube.com. We never store the rest of the address you came from: not the page, not anything after the question mark. It is kept as a plain daily tally with nothing else attached, so it cannot be connected to your answers.

Links we hand out ourselves carry a short code saying which platform we put them on (for example a link posted on YouTube). A share link a person sends contains their type and a random code; if you take the test from their link, your record includes that code, so we can count how many people a share brings in. The code says nothing about who either of you is.

If you give us your email address

After your result you can leave an email address. It is optional, the box is empty unless you type in it, and the tick box next to it is not ticked for you. We store the address, the date, the language you took the test in, and which platform’s link brought you here — and separately, a note that a consent was given, which sentence you agreed to, and when.

Nothing in our storage links your address to your answers. The address is filed under a key generated at random, with nothing in common with the code that ties your answers together. Both records do note the time to the minute, though, so while few people take the test, someone holding both could guess from the times which answers go with which address. We don’t do that unless you ask us to (see “Your choices” below), and we keep both private.

We have not sent anything to these addresses yet. When we do, it will be about Poilia, rarely, and every message will carry a one-click way to stop it.

If you pre-order the full report

While pre-orders are open, the pre-order button on your result page is a link to Stripe’s checkout. The link carries your two types and the language you took the test in (for example poilia-builder-guardian-en), so the report can be about your type. Nothing else from the test goes with it, and we do not match payments to test answers. As with an email address, though, the types and the time of the payment could let someone holding both records guess; we keep both private.

Stripe handles the payment. It gives us the name, email address and billing country you enter there (plus a postal code, where your card needs one) and the last four digits of your card, the amount, and the other details Stripe gives every seller: the card brand, the expiry date and the country that issued the card, a code that lets Stripe recognise the card if it is used again, and, from its fraud checks, the IP address and rough location the payment came from. If you pay some other way than by card, we get that method’s equivalent details instead. We never see your full card number or security code. We use your email address only for this order: to send the report, a refund, or a message about the order.

We keep the payment record for as long as tax law requires us to keep sales records, even if you ask us to delete everything else. Stripe keeps its own record under Stripe’s privacy policy.

Research participants

If you come from a research panel such as Prolific, the link carries your panel ID. The page removes it from the address bar and we never store it. We do not record where you came from, and we do not ask you for an email address.

The Poilia New Tab extension

If you install the Poilia New Tab browser extension, it keeps a small profile in your browser’s own extension storage: your type and the date you got it, the tools you added to your kit, and, if you set them, your role and display choices. Nothing else.

  • The extension never contacts our servers or anyone else’s. Today’s line, the clock and the date are all worked out inside your browser from files that ship with the extension.
  • The only thing that can send it data is a page on poilia.com, and it keeps only the fields listed above; anything else is ignored rather than stored.
  • Its only permission is storage. It cannot read the pages you visit or your browsing history.
  • If you turned on sync in your browser, your browser (not us) copies that storage to your other devices under your browser account.
  • The button that takes you to Poilia is an ordinary link. If you click it, you are visiting this site, and what is described above applies — including a note that you came from the new tab.
  • Removing the extension deletes its storage from that browser.

Who processes it

The site and its storage run on Cloudflare. Like every network provider, Cloudflare sees your connection, including your IP address, to deliver the page; we do not store it. Pre-order payments are processed by Stripe. Sales records go only to whoever prepares our tax filings and, when the law requires it, to tax authorities.

How long we keep it

We keep individual test records while we are still working on Poilia, because the comparisons we run need earlier answers to compare against. There is no longer a fixed deletion date. We review this once a year, and if it changes this page changes with it. An email address we keep until you ask us to remove it. A pre-order payment record we keep for as long as tax law requires us to keep sales records. The counters are dates and paths with nothing attached and are kept indefinitely — there is nothing in them to delete. Aggregated, anonymous statistics (for example “30% of participants got Builder as their first type”) may be kept and published.

Your choices

Your answers are not stored under your name, so usually we cannot find them to show you or to delete them — if you would rather nothing were stored, close the page before your result appears. If you left an email address or pre-ordered, write to us with roughly when you took the test: we will look for your answers by that time and delete what we find.

Your email address is different: that one we do know. Write to support@rehobothbuilds.com and we will delete it and write back to say it is done. If you pre-ordered, the payment record is the one thing we cannot delete, because tax law makes us keep it; we will tell you exactly what it contains. Poilia is not meant for children under 16.
